Wall St slips at open as US-Iran tensions cloud start to second half

July 1 (Reuters) – Wall Street’s main indexes opened ​lower on ‌Wednesday as fresh U.S.-Iran tensions cast doubt over peace ‌in ​the ⁠Middle East, marking ⁠a cautious start to the second half of ​2026.

The Dow Jones Industrial ⁠Average fell ⁠88.0 points, ​or 0.17%, at ​the open to 52,231.18. ‌The S&P 500 fell 20.5 points, or ⁠0.27%, at the open to 7,478.84, while ⁠the ‌Nasdaq Composite ⁠dropped 174.2 ​points, ‌or 0.66%, to ​26,039.507.
