WASHINGTON, Sept xx (Reuters) – The World Bank Thursday said it has approved $200 million in additional funding to help Colombia respond to and recover from the August 10 earthquake that left hundreds dead.
• Funds are additional to $200 million already disbursed
• Colombian finance minister says funding demonstrates the bank’s confidence in Colombia and its government
• Funds will go to reconstruction needs, disaster risk management
• The United Nations Development Program last week estimated that the 7.4 magnitude earthquake caused around $14 billion in damage
• Colombian authorities have estimated 331 people were killed in the earthquake and over 4,500 injured
