Brewers activate INF David Hamilton from IL

The Milwaukee Brewers activated infielder David Hamilton off the injured list ​Friday and designated infielder ‌Braden Shewmake for assignment.

Hamilton was in the starting lineup at third base and batting ninth ‌Friday ​for the ⁠series opener against ⁠Colorado. Hamilton, who was placed on the 10-day IL on July 7 with ​a strained left hamstring, is hitting .240 with three ⁠homers, six ⁠doubles and 15 RBIs, ​along with 18 stolen bases.

The ​versatile Hamilton has appeared in ‌74 games, including 65 starts, with 36 starts at third base, 25 ⁠at shortstop and four at second base.

Hamilton played in two rehab ⁠games ‌at Triple-A Nashville ⁠with one hit in ​seven ‌at-bats.

Shewmake, acquired from ​Houston on ⁠July 12, appeared in four games for Milwaukee, hitting .286 (2-for-7) with one double, one RBI and one steal.
