Brewers RHP Brandon Woodruff to undergo season-ending surgery

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff is set to undergo season-ending shoulder ​surgery.

When speaking to ‌reporters, he made it clear that he is not planning on retiring.

“I’m getting ‌this (surgery) ​with the ⁠intention of rehabbing ⁠and taking care of that and being able to pitch again,” he ​stated.

The 33-year-old exited July 4’s matchup against ⁠the Arizona ⁠Diamondbacks after a velocity ​drop and was placed ​on the 15-day injured list ‌the following day.

For his career, the two-time All-Star has a 3.10 ⁠ERA and 1.022 WHIP and 918 strikeouts across 151 games (136 ⁠starts).

This ‌season, he posted ⁠a 2.98 ERA ​and ‌0.838 WHIP in nine ​starts.

Last offseason, ⁠he accepted the one-year, $22 million qualifying offer. He will be a free agent this winter.
