Scottish Open interrupted by 2 1/2-hour fog delay

Play at the Scottish Open resumed Saturday after a delay of ​nearly 2 1/2 ‌hours due to heavy fog.

The third round had started and 17 players were on ‌the ​course as ⁠the fog worsened, ⁠forcing the suspension at 10:45 a.m. local time (5:45 a.m. ET). Play resumed ​at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, ⁠Scotland, at ⁠1:10 p.m. local time.

The ​first of trio of ​leaders tied at 9-under will ‌tee off at 6:04 p.m. (1:04 p.m. ET) when Northern Ireland’s Rory ⁠McIlroy takes to the course with Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick (8-under).

The other leaders, ⁠England’s ‌Jordan Smith and ⁠Tom Kim of ​South ‌Korea, are scheduled ​to tee ⁠off at 6:15 p.m. local time.

Sunset in North Berwick is projected for 9:52 p.m. local time.
