Madison Keys joined an exclusive club on Saturday by defeating Germany’s Tatjana Maria 7-5, 6-4 to claim her third Eastbourne Open championship in the United ‌Kingdom.

The second-seeded American, who won the grass-court title here in 2014 and 2023, joined legends Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova as the only players to ‌win the Wimbledon tune-up event three or more times.

Keys claimed her 11th career WTA Tour title by finishing off Maria in one hour and 33 minutes. Although she landed only 58% of her first serves, Keys won 88% of those points (29 of 33) and faced only one break point.

No. 4 seed Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic captured her first grass-court title when No. 6 Naomi ‌Osaka of Japan retired in the second set in Germany due to a foot injury.

Muchova was leading 6-1, 1-0 when the match ended after 46 minutes. She converted three of four break points against the four-time Grand Slam winner and ‌claimed her third WTA Tour title.

“I just want to say thank you ‌to everyone who came to watch the match,” said Osaka, who was seeking her first title since winning the 2021 Australian Open. “I apologize for not being able to finish, but this atmosphere was incredible throughout the week.”
