Brewers LHP Rob Zastryzny (trapezius) back on injured list

Milwaukee left-hander Rob Zastryzny stayed off the injured list for just three days as the Brewers placed ​him on the 15-day IL on ‌Wednesday because of a left trapezius strain.

The move was retroactive to Sunday, the same day the 34-year-old was activated from the 60-day injured ‌list ​after straining his left ⁠shoulder in spring training.

In ⁠a corresponding move, the Brewers recalled left-hander Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville and announced he would start Wednesday night’s home ​game against the San Francisco Giants.

Zastryzny was 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA ⁠in 22 innings over ⁠26 appearances (one start) last season ​with Milwaukee. He did not pitch during his ​three days on the Brewers’ active ‌roster.

For his career, Zastryzny owns a 6-1 record with a 3.84 ERA, 41 walks and 74 strikeouts in 89 innings ⁠over 80 games (six starts) for the Chicago Cubs (2016-18), New York Mets (2022), Los Angeles Angels (2022), Pittsburgh Pirates (2023) ⁠and Brewers (2024-present).

Gassser, ‌who turned 27 on Sunday, ⁠was 0-1 with a 6.48 ​ERA, ‌six walks and seven strikeouts ​in 8 ⁠1/3 innings over two starts this season.

He is 2-3 with a 3.43 ERA in 42 innings over nine starts since his major league debut on May 10, 2024.
