Senators propose legislation to tighten US ban on Chinese vehicles

WASHINGTON, April 29 (Reuters) – Two U.S. senators on Wednesday ​introduced legislation ‌to toughen a U.S. government ban on Chinese automakers from ‌entering ​the American ⁠market, weeks ⁠before President Donald Trump heads to China for talks.

Republican Senator ​Bernie Moreno of Ohio ⁠and Democratic ⁠Senator Elissa Slotkin ​of Michigan proposed ​legislation to codify a ‌regulation imposed by the Biden administration that effectively ⁠bans all Chinese automakers from selling passenger vehicles ⁠in ‌the U.S. ⁠and take other ​steps ‌to prevent ​China from ⁠entering the U.S. light duty market.
