Brewers activate RHP Abner Uribe, put RHP Bryse Wilson on IL

Aug 31 (Field Level Media) – Ahead of a key series against the rival Cubs beginning Monday in Chicago, the Milwaukee ​Brewers activated right-handed setup man Abner Uribe ‌from the 15-day injured list and placed right-handed reliever Bryse Wilson on the 15-day IL.

Uribe, who went on the IL on Aug. 14, retroactive to Aug. 11, with a right ‌forearm ​flexor strain, has impressive 2026 ⁠numbers, going 4-2 with ⁠a 2.05 ERA in 49 relief appearances, with six saves and 48 strikeouts over 48 1/3 innings.

Signed by Milwaukee as a free agent out of ​the Dominican Republic in 2018, the 26-year-old Uribe debuted in 2023 and is 10-6 with a ⁠2.24 ERA, 17 saves and ⁠191 strikeouts over 170 relief appearances ​spanning 168 2/3 innings.

Wilson, 28, on his third team this ​season, sustained a lower back strain during ‌Sunday’s loss to the Texas Rangers. In 12 relief appearances for Milwaukee since signing on July 10, he has a 2.55 ERA with 22 strikeouts in ⁠24 2/3 innings. He was also designated for assignment and then re-signed by the Brewers in August. In 2026 ⁠with the Philadelphia ‌Phillies, Cubs and Brewers, he has ⁠a 3.67 ERA and 30 strikeouts ​over 34 ‌1/3 innings in 15 relief outings.

Over ​parts of ⁠nine seasons with the Atlanta Braves (2018-21), Pittsburgh Pirates (2021-22), Brewers (2023-24, 2026), Chicago White Sox (2025), Phillies (2026) and Cubs (2026), Wilson is 20-23 with a 4.74 ERA, four saves and 363 strikeouts in 178 games (57 starts) and 495 1/3 ​innings.
