BRASILIA, Aug 28 (Reuters) – Brazil’s economy created a net 58,568 formal jobs in July, data from the Labor Ministry showed on Friday, below the 112,000 net openings expected by economists in a Reuters poll.
• The net figure accounts for 2,262,888 jobs opened and 2,204,320 closed during the period, the ministry said
• Job creation was the slowest for any month so far this year and marked the weakest July performance in the government’s historical series, which goes back to 2020
• From January to July, a net of 972,203 formal jobs were created in Brazil, an about 21% decline year-over-year
