The Colorado Rockies placed infielder Kyle Karros on the seven-day concussion list Wednesday, one day after he was injured during a 3-2 victory over the host Arizona Diamondbacks.
Karros was injured in the bottom of the sixth inning when he collided with shortstop Ezequiel Tovar while chasing a grounder. Though Karros is the third baseman, he was positioned near second base with Arizona’s Ketel Marte batting from the left side.
Karros was moving to his right in pursuit of the grounder as Tovar moved to his left and the two collided. Karros went down and received assistance from a trainer before being helped off the field.
Karros hit a tying two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning. It was his 10th home run of the season.
The 24-year-old Karros is batting .265 with 44 RBIs in 112 games in his first full major league campaign. He is the son of former big league first baseman Eric Karros.
Colorado promoted infielder Adael Amador from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. He had a .176 batting average with one homer and 10 RBI in 51 games with the Rockies in 2024-25.
Amador is batting .261 with 11 homers and 58 RBIs in 86 games for the Isotopes this season.
