Malaysian PM expected to be discharged from hospital after surgery, state news agency reports

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Reuters) – Malaysian Prime Minister ​Anwar Ibrahim ‌was expected to be discharged from hospital ‌on ​Wednesday, his ⁠wife said, ⁠according to a report by state news agency ​Bernama.

Anwar, 79, has been ⁠under ⁠medical observation ​since undergoing elective laparoscopic ​surgery to treat a ‌para-umbilical hernia on Monday.

He thanked supporters ⁠who had prayed for his health ⁠and ‌recovery, his ⁠wife Wan ​Azizah ‌Wan Ismail told ​reporters ⁠on Wednesday, Bernama reported.
