The Chicago Cubs placed right-handers Edward Cabrera and Ben Brown on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Left-hander Matthew Boyd will come off of the injured list ‌and start Thursday’s game against the host New York Mets, manager Craig Counsell announced. Boyd underwent left knee surgery last month to repair a meniscus ‌tear suffered while playing with his kids.

Cabrera was carted off the field on Tuesday after injuring his left hamstring while covering first base in Chicago’s 9-6 victory over New York at Citi Field.

Brown hits the injured list — retroactive to Sunday — due to a neck strain.

Also on Wednesday, the Cubs selected the contract of Vince Velasquez and appointed fellow right-hander Tyler Ferguson as the 27th man for the team’s doubleheader ‌against the Mets. Gavin Hollowell was recalled from Triple-A Iowa and fellow right-hander Eduarniel Nunez was designated for assignment.

Cabrera, 28, is 5-4 with a 5.10 ERA in 14 appearances (all starts) during his first season with the Cubs after being acquired in ‌the offseason from the Miami Marlins.

Brown, 26, is 4-2 with one save ‌and a 1.85 ERA in 20 appearances (eight starts) this season.

Boyd, 35, is 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA, six walks and 31 strikeouts in 24 innings over five starts this season. He was an All-Star for Chicago in 2025.
