NASCAR bans woman accused of assault with golf cart

NASCAR indefinitely suspended a 23XI Racing staffer after she was charged ​with assaulting a ‌77-year-old man with a golf cart last weekend in Charlotte, N.C.

Evanna Daneen Howell, 35, ‌was ​arrested Saturday ⁠at Charlotte Motor ⁠Speedway and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon leading to ​serious injury.

She was released on a $125,000 bond ⁠following a ⁠court appearance on Tuesday. ​Her next court appearance ​in Cabarrus County is June ‌16.

Details of the alleged assault on Dennis Manchester were not immediately ⁠available.

Howell works as a senior account manager at 23XI Racing, co-owned ⁠by ‌NBA legend Michael ⁠Jordan.

Officials at 23XI ​Racing ‌and NASCAR have ​not issued ⁠any statements.

NASCAR announced the suspension in its weekly penalty report on Wednesday, calling it a “behavioral” matter.
