Omron Robotics and Italy’s Comau partner to expand industrial automation

May 11 (Reuters) – Italian automation company Comau and U.S.-based Omron Robotics said ​on Monday they ‌had signed a strategic collaboration agreement aimed at expanding automation solutions for industrial manufacturing.

The ‌partnership ​aims to ⁠combine Comau’s robotics ⁠expertise with Omron’s technologies and software capabilities, the companies said in a ​statement. It will target high-growth sectors such ⁠as electronics, semiconductors, ⁠medical manufacturing and ​light industrial intralogistics, they added.

• ​Omron Robotics is part of ‌Japan-listed Omron, while Comau is 50.1% owned by One Equity Partners ⁠and 49.9% by Stellantis

• “This collaboration … strengthens Comau’s presence in high-growth ⁠sectors ‌and new geographies,” Comau ⁠CEO Pietro Gorlier ​said

• ‌Comau and Omron ​view the ⁠partnership as a “platform for future joint initiatives”, they said
