The San Diego Padres placed second baseman Jace Cronenworth on the seven-day injured list Tuesday due to concussion symptoms.

The Padres recalled infielder Sung-Mun Song ‌from Triple-A El Paso to fill Cronenworth’s roster spot.

The team did not announce when Cronenworth, 32, sustained a potential concussion. He’s struggled early in ‌the 2026 season, hitting .144 and slugging .196 with one homer and four RBIs in 32 games. He has a .244 career average over seven major league seasons and 813 games.

Song, 29, will be making his major league debut. He signed a four-year deal with the Padres this offseason after coming up in Korea’s KBO league. An oblique injury forced him to start the season on the injured ‌list and he was optioned to El Paso after his recovery, where he’s hit .293 with a homer and 15 RBIs in 25 games.

Song is immediately making his first career start Tuesday vs. San Francisco, playing second base and batting ‌ninth.

In other moves on Tuesday, the Padres activated left-hander Yuki Matsui, ‌30, from the 15-day injured list (groin strain) and optioned lefty Kyle Hart, 33, to El Paso. Hart was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA, six walks and 10 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings over 12 relief appearances.
