WASHINGTON, April 22 (Reuters) – U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told ‌senators on Wednesday that if confirmed, the incoming director of the ‌Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will have the ability to make decisions on vaccines independently and will not be subject to those of political appointees.

“That is correct,” said Kennedy, who is appearing before ‌the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Education in his seventh congressional hearing this week, when asked if ‌President Donald Trump’s nominee to head ‌the CDC would be allowed to make independent decisions on immunizations.
