Fisker to recall about 7,500 Ocean electric SUVs over water pump issue, NHTSA says

(Reuters) – Fisker is recalling 7,545 Ocean electric SUVs due to a water pump issue that could cause a loss of power, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The latest recall comes after three similar moves in June. Fisker had filed for bankruptcy protection last month after burning through cash in an attempt to ramp up production and deliver its Ocean SUVs.

“A communication failure with the cabin electric water pump can cause the high voltage battery management system (BMS) to enter limp mode, causing a loss of drive power,” the U.S. regulator said in a letter on Monday.

Fisker will replace the pumps free of charge to rectify the issue, NHTSA said.
