Nov 01 (Field Level Media) – Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell sustained a neck injury and was taken to a local hospital after being injured during the fourth quarter of ‌Sunday’s 19-15 victory over the visiting Minnesota Vikings.

“Thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said after the contest. “He’s being taken care of. We don’t have ‌any new information. We’ll keep you updated as this thing goes. But we are thinking about him. We are thinking about him.”

Jack Campbell, a first-team All-Pro last season, was injured while tackling Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson as teammate Jimmy Rolder hit Hockenson from the other side with 14:48 remaining in the contest.

Campbell, 26, lay motionless facing the ground and was surrounded by medical personnel for nine minutes while being immobilized and strapped to a board. He did not signal to the Ford Field crowd as ‌he was driven off on a cart toward the tunnel.

“He’s breathing, he’s alert when he left,” Dan Campbell said of the scene to the Lions Radio Network.

Lions star quarterback Jared Goff was shaken up while observing the situation.

“Jack’s deal was definitely scary,” Goff said. “It just brings you back to reality ‌for a moment that he’s a husband and a father. Scary. We’re praying for him ‌and hope he’s going to be alright. If anyone is tough enough to get through something like that, it’s going to be him.”

Campbell, a fourth-year pro, was credited with three tackles prior to the injury. He has 57 this season and piling up a career-high 176 last season.
