Oct 31 (Field Level Media) – Alabama men’s basketball picked up another national top-25 recruit on Saturday when five-star forward Zion Green committed to the ‌Crimson Tide, according to ESPN.

Green is Alabama’s second 2027 top 25 commit and chose Alabama over Ole Miss, Kansas and Oklahoma, which were the final group of ‌schools he was considering.

Alabama offered Green this spring and he took an official visit to Tuscaloosa in September.

“When I attended practice, they were intense,” Green told ESPN. “Coach (Nate) Oats holds all of his players accountable. But off the court, he’s funny and likes to joke around.”

Green, a 6-foot-9 forward from Philadelphia, played at AZ Compass Prep in Arizona during his senior year. He is ranked No. 16 in the SC Next 100.

Green is regarded ‌for his upside, and skill despite his lanky frame. He was impressive at the Border League where he shot 73 percent, including 40 percent from 3-point range, according to stats and analytics website Cerebro.

“Their play style fits my game,” Green said referring to ‌Alabama’s style. “They play an up-tempo game and have had success in the past ‌with players who have my type of frame and skill set.”

Green joins Georgia shooting guard Chase Lumpkin, ranked No. 23 by ESPN, as five-stars in Alabama’s class. Oats has secured six five-star recruits since becoming the Tide’s coach in 2019.
