Oct 12 (Field Level Media) – The DP World Tour will not offer memberships to players who join LIV Golf 2.0 for the 2027 season.
DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings said on Monday that all LIV golfers will be barred from the European circuit in 2027. The decision would effectively prohibit LIV participants from competing for Europe at next year’s Ryder Cup.
“Players need to make a choice,” Kinnings told BBC Sport. “We have rules and regulations which are there to protect our tour and which our members must all abide by. Players who are not willing to comply with our rules and regulations should not be seeking to join our tour.”
The news is a significant blow to LIV, which is desperate for player commitments after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September. LIV, founded in 2021, is facing an uncertain future amid significant restructuring. The Saudi Public Investment Fund won’t be bankrolling the venture following the 2026 season.
Some golfers, including Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, were previously allowed to play on both the DP World Tour and in LIV events.
Rahm’s attorney said last week that the Spaniard will not be participating in LIV 2.0.
