Oct 10 (Field Level Media) – The FBI intends to award the UFC an exclusive ‌contract to train agents in hand-to-hand combat, according to The Athletic.

The report cites a “Sole Source Justification” ‌document filed on September 30th. The form enables the government to award a contract without reviewing bids from competitors.

“The FBI requires a training program for special agents in defense tactical techniques that focus on integrating mixed martial arts (MMA) skills with specialized defense tactics,” the document stated. “The purpose ‌of the training is to enhance physical combat abilities, mental toughness, and tactical awareness, which are crucial for special agents in high-risk situations.”

The document proposes a ‌one-year, exclusive contract. The financial amount would be ‌redacted.

The UFC and its CEO and president Dana White have working relationship with the Trump administration. The White House hosted UFC Freedom 250 in June.
