Sep 27 (Field Level Media) – Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming could host a major league game after MLB inquired with the White House about playing at a national park, according to a Washington Post report Saturday.
In a statement, the White House confirmed that MLB contacted the Trump administration regarding a potential game at a national park. The White House also said the National Park Service has not granted MLB a permit.
“This is not a Presidential directive, nor is it being directed by the White House. It’s also not being driven by the Department of Interior,” the statement said. “Therefore, this is not a White House or Administration priority.”
According to the Post, the administration has explored potential locations in Grand Teton National Park for a baseball park, with National Park Service Deputy Director Frank Lands visiting the park this week to scout three potential sites. Lands did not comment on the report.
Grand Teton would be the latest in a line of single-game sites, which have included the Field of Dreams site in Dyersville, Iowa, and the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pa. MLB held a game at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee last year, following a game at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., the previous year.
