Sept 25 (Reuters) – Tropical Storm Gonzalo located near the Cabo Verde islands is expected to strengthen later in the day, with a gradual weakening trend forecast to begin this weekend, the US National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory on Friday.
The storm was about 140 miles (225 km) east-southeast of the southernmost Cabo Verde islands, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 km/h).
“Tropical storm conditions are expected to reach the Cabo Verde islands within the warning area in a few hours, and continue through the day and into tonight,” the Miami-based forecaster said.
