Sep 24 (Field Level Media) – Gregg Popovich, who led the San Antonio Spurs to five NBA championships, reportedly has a new ring.
TMZ reported Wednesday night that Popovich married Mary Barth Budenholzer on Sept. 16 in Bexar County, Texas, citing a marriage license issued there. She is the ex-wife of Mike Budenholzer, who worked as Popovich’s assistant in San Antonio from 1996-2013 before becoming the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns.
Budenholzer led the Bucks to the 2021 NBA championship, five years after he and his wife reportedly divorced.
Popovich, 77, is the winningest coach in NBA history. After missing much of the 2024-25 season due to health issues, Popovich transitioned from the bench to the Spurs’ front office. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinee serves as the team’s president of basketball operations.
Popovich was married to Erin Popovich for 42 years until her death on April 18, 2018.
