Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes near Chile’s capital Santiago, EMSC says

SANTIAGO, Sept 18 (Reuters) – ‌An ​earthquake ⁠of magnitude 4.8 ⁠struck on Friday Chile’s Metropolitan Region, ​home to ⁠capital ⁠city Santiago, ​the European-Mediterranean ​Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The quake, ‌which hit at a ⁠depth of 98 km (60.89 miles), ⁠was downgraded ‌from ⁠an ​initial ‌5.0 magnitude, ​according to ⁠EMSC.
