Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky signs multiyear extension

Sep 18 (Field Level Media) – The San Jose Sharks signed ​head coach Ryan Warsofsky ‌to a multiyear contract extension on Thursday. Terms were not disclosed.

Warsofsky, 38, is entering his third ‌season ​behind the ⁠bench and remains ⁠the NHL’s youngest active head coach. He helped the Sharks improve from 52 points (20-50-12) ​in 2024-25 to 86 points (39-35-8) last season, the ⁠franchise’s best finish ⁠since 2018-19.

Warsofsky brought a ​track record of success to ​the post when he was ‌named the Sharks’ 11th full-time coach on June 13, 2024, promoted from assistant ⁠coach.

He earned an IIHF World Championship gold medal as head coach of ⁠Team ‌USA in 2025 ⁠and a Calder Cup ​title ‌as head coach of ​the AHL’s ⁠Chicago Wolves in 2021-22.

San Jose opens the regular season at home against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 1.
