South Korean court orders North Korea to pay damages over 2020 liaison office demolition, Yonhap reports

SEOUL, Sept 16 (Reuters) – A Seoul court on Wednesday ​ordered North ‌Korea to pay 44.6 billion won ($32.5 million) in damages ‌over ​its 2020 ⁠demolition of ⁠an inter-Korean liaison office, marking the first judgment in ​a lawsuit brought by the ⁠South ⁠Korean government against ​North Korea, Yonhap ​News Agency reported.

South Korea’s ‌previous conservative government, led by former President ⁠Yoon Suk Yeol, filed the suit in June ⁠2023, ‌before Yoon ⁠was ousted ​from ‌office after his ​short-lived December ⁠2024 martial law declaration.
