Revolut wins Colombia bank license, targeting 2027 launch

BOGOTA, Sept 15 (Reuters) – British fintech Revolut said ​on Tuesday ‌it had obtained a banking license in Colombia, according to a ‌company ​statement.

The company ⁠plans to start ⁠operations in the South American country in 2027, a source ​told Reuters.

Revolut said it would ⁠invest an ⁠additional $62 million in ​Colombia in digital ​banking infrastructure and financial technology, ‌doubling its initial investment.

The license, granted by Colombia’s ⁠banking authorities, was the final regulatory step required before ⁠launch, ‌the company ⁠said.

Revolut said it ​has ‌more than 80 ​million customers ⁠globally, and nearly 200,000 Colombians on a waiting list to join.
