Aug 28 (Field Level Media) – The Reds placed struggling third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes on the 10-day injured list Friday due ‌to a left groin strain.

The move is retroactive to Thursday. In a corresponding transaction, Cincinnati recalled infielder Edwin Arroyo from Triple-A Louisville.

Hayes ‌last played on Wednesday, going 1-for-4 in a 10-9 win at San Francisco. He was replaced by pinch hitter Tyler Stephenson in the ninth inning.

Hayes, 29, also was on the IL from May 21 to July 9 because of a bulging disc in his back.

He is batting a career-low .153 with five home runs and eight RBIs in 78 games. His .213 on-base percentage, .250 ‌slugging percentage and .463 OPS also are career lows.

A Gold Glove winner in 2023 and 2025, Hayes is a career .245 hitter with 47 homers and 233 RBIs in 706 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2020-25) and Reds (2025-present). Pittsburgh ‌selected Hayes in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2015 ‌MLB Draft.

Arroyo, 23, has batted .244 (32-for-131) with five RBIs in 44 games since making his major league debut on June 1. He was hitting .309 with 15 homers and 43 RBIs in 72 games for Louisville.
