Aug 24 (Field Level Media) – The Patriots signed veteran punter Matt Haack on Monday, according to ESPN.
New England coach Mike Vrabel told reporters that the team would be adding anew punter after Bryce Baringer was forced to exit Saturday’s preseason winover the Philadelphia Eagles with an injury.
Haack, 32, was most recently with the Washington Commanders this offseason asa temporary injury replacement for Tress Way before he was released last week.He saw action last season, his ninth in the NFL, for the Arizona Cardinals,punting 25 times over seven games and averaging 51.3 yards per punt and 43.4net yards per punt.
Haack appeared in 12 games over the last three seasons after serving as afull-time starter for his first six NFL seasons. He has career averages of45.0 yards per punt and 39.9 net yards per punt over 478 punts across 110games for the Miami Dolphins (2017-20), Buffalo Bills (2021), IndianapolisColts (2022), Cleveland Browns (2023), New York Giants (2024) and Cardinals.
