Report: Patriots sign P Matt Haack

Aug 24 (Field Level Media) – The Patriots signed veteran punter Matt Haack ​on Monday, according to ‌ESPN.

New England coach Mike Vrabel told reporters that the team would be adding anew punter after Bryce Baringer ‌was ​forced to exit Saturday’s ⁠preseason winover the ⁠Philadelphia Eagles with an injury.

Haack, 32, was most recently with the Washington Commanders this offseason ​asa temporary injury replacement for Tress Way before he was ⁠released last week.He ⁠saw action last season, ​his ninth in the NFL, for ​the Arizona Cardinals,punting 25 times over ‌seven games and averaging 51.3 yards per punt and 43.4net yards per punt.

Haack appeared in ⁠12 games over the last three seasons after serving as afull-time starter for ⁠his ‌first six NFL seasons. ⁠He has career averages ​of45.0 ‌yards per punt and 39.9 ​net yards ⁠per punt over 478 punts across 110games for the Miami Dolphins (2017-20), Buffalo Bills (2021), IndianapolisColts (2022), Cleveland Browns (2023), New York Giants (2024) and Cardinals.
