Coach carrying German high-school students crashes in Netherlands

AMSTERDAM, Aug 24 (Reuters) – A coach carrying high-school students from Germany crashed ​in the east of ‌the Netherlands early on Monday, injuring eight people, who were taken to hospital, Dutch ‌police ​said.

“Some of the ⁠victims taken to ⁠the hospital are seriously injured,” the police department of Gelderland province said in ​a post on X. Other people suffered ⁠minor injuries in ⁠the accident.

The coach, ​which carried more than 50 ​people, according to a police ‌spokesperson, crashed near the town of Wezep, some 100 km (62 miles) east ⁠of Amsterdam around 4 a.m. (0200 GMT) due to a collision with ⁠a ‌delivery van, whose ⁠driver was among the ​injured ‌victims.

The A28 highway ​was closed ⁠in both directions following the accident.
