The Texas Rangers recalled catcher Logan O’Hoppe from Triple-A Round Rock prior to their home game Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels in Arlington, Texas.

O’Hoppe, who was not ‌in the starting lineup for the series finale, is set to make his Rangers debut after he was acquired before the trade deadline from the Angels. He joins Texas after ‌hitting .209 across 75 games for Los Angeles this season, with four home runs and 23 RBIs.

O’Hoppe played 18 games with Round Rock before his promotion, slashing .292/.386/.556 with three homers, 10 doubles and 20 RBIs.

The 26-year-old was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 23rd round of the 2018 MLB Draft and traded to the Angels at the 2022 deadline. He is a career .227 hitter across parts of five MLB seasons.

In a corresponding move, the Rangers designated outfielder Jarred ‌Kelenic for assignment. In doing so, the club has seven days to trade, release or outright him to the minor leagues. The 26-year-old also was designated for assignment June 29, elected free agency and accepted an assignment to Round Rock. He signed a minor league deal ‌with Texas on July 3.

Kelenic was called up to the Rangers on Aug. 11 ‌and hit .200 (4-for-20) in 17 games while appearing in left and center field.

A first-round draft pick of the New York Mets in 2018, Kelenic has played for four teams across his six-year career, including the Seattle Mariners (2021-23), Atlanta Braves (2024-25), Chicago White Sox (2026) and Rangers.
