D.C. United transfer F Jacob Murrell to Scottish club

D.C. United transferred forward Jacob Murrell to Falkirk FC of the Scottish Premiership, the club announced ​Friday.

Murrell, 22, joined D.C. as ‌the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft and signed a three-year contract through 2026 with an option for 2027.

The ‌striker ​contributed four goals ⁠and five assists in ⁠65 appearances across all competitions. As a rookie, he had one goal and three assists in 27 matches (six ​starts), plus three appearances in the 2024 Leagues Cup.

Last year, he ⁠tallied two goals and ⁠one assist in 24 appearances ​in the regular season, plus one goal ​in two Lamar Hunt U.S. Open ‌Cup appearances.

He has come off the bench in eight games this season and has one assist. He played ⁠in one U.S. Open Cup match.

“Jacob is a local talent who came to us as ⁠a ‌first-round draft pick and grew ⁠into a professional over three ​seasons ‌with this club,” said managing ​director of ⁠soccer operations Erkut Sogut. “He gave this fanbase moments they will remember for a long time, and he earned everything he got here through his work.”
