Orioles activate RHP Chris Bassitt from IL to face Rays

The Baltimore Orioles reinstated right-hander Chris Bassitt to the active roster and ​the veteran will start ‌Friday’s road game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

In a corresponding move, right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo was ‌optioned ​to Triple-A Norfolk.

Bassitt, ⁠37, last pitched ⁠for the Orioles on June 3 before he went down with lower back ​discomfort. He is 4-4 with a 5.27 ERA ⁠in 12 appearances (10 ⁠starts) this season.

An All-Star ​in 2021 as a member ​of the Oakland Athletics, Bassitt ‌is 87-69 with a 3.71 ERA in 244 lifetime appearances (228 starts) in 12 ⁠seasons with the Chicago White Sox (2014), A’s (2015-21), New York Mets (2022), Toronto ⁠Blue ‌Jays (2023-25) and Orioles.

Hiraldo, 30, ⁠was 1-0 with ​a ‌5.87 ERA in seven ​relief appearances ⁠this season and has a 4.94 ERA in 25 career appearances going back to last season for Baltimore.
