After beginning the season on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain, Miami Marlins first baseman/outfielder Kyle Stowers is back on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain.
Stowers, 28, a first-time All-Star last season, was placed on the IL on Tuesday, retroactive to Monday, while third baseman Graham Pauley recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move.
After hitting a two-run single in the fifth inning on Sunday, a limping Stowers was seen holding the back of his left leg. He exited the game with left hamstring discomfort.
Debuting this season on April 19 after a five-game rehab assignment with Jacksonville, Stowers has been a solid contributor since June 1, hitting .256 with 13 home runs and 41 RBIs in 57 games. Overall, he’s hitting .242 this season with 16 homers and 52 RBIs.
Selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round of the 2019 draft, Stowers has played parts of five seasons with the Orioles (2022-24) and Marlins (2024-present) and has hit .249 with 47 homers and 160 RBIs in 328 games.
Pauley, 25, has played in 41 games for the Marlins this season, hitting .190 (19-for-100) with one homer and 12 RBIs. In 116 games with the San Diego Padres (2024) and Marlins (2025-present), he is a .201 hitter with seven homers and 28 RBIs.
The Marlins entered play Tuesday 3 1/2 games back of the Philadelphia Phillies for the final National League wild-card spot.
