Carney says he and Trump agreed to intensify trade talks

OTTAWA, July 21 (Reuters) – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney ​said he ‌had spoken to U.S President Donald Trump on Tuesday and ‌told ​reporters the ⁠two leaders had ⁠agreed to intensify trade negotiations.

Carney made the comment a ​day after Trump’s latest tariffs ⁠threat against ⁠Canada.

“We agreed ​to intensify negotiations in ​the coming weeks, and ‌the team and myself look forward to doing ⁠that,” he said, adding that all options were ⁠on ‌the table ⁠if the ​United ‌States went ahead ​with its ⁠latest tariffs threat.
