Pittsburgh Pirates rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin is scheduled to be placed on the injured list Tuesday with a ‌torn tendon in his left hand.

Griffin, 20, had just returned last week from a stint on the injured list ‌because of a right elbow strain. He made his major league debut April 3 and is batting .276 with five home runs and 25 RBIs in 59 games.

Griffin’s latest injury is to his left ring finger. According to a member of the Pirates’ medical staff, Griffin could be out for up to two ‌months with the finger in a splint for at least six weeks.

The No. 9 overall pick of the 2024 draft, Griffin signed a nine-year, $140 million deal with the club just ‌days after his promotion to the majors.

The Pirates have ‌used utility man Jared Triolo at shortstop for 34 games this season. He is batting .240 with one home run and 14 RBIs in 57 total games this season.
