Report: Blazers C Robert Williams III agrees to 3-year extension

Center Robert Williams III has agreed to sign a three-year, $44 million contract ​extension to return ‌to the Portland Trail Blazers.

LIFT Sports Management told ESPN of the extension, which extends through the ‌2028-29 ​season.

Williams, 28, ⁠averaged 6.7 points, ⁠7.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 59 games (one start) this past season with the ​Trail Blazers. He also shot 70.8% from ⁠the floor while ⁠coming off the bench ​as a backup to Donovan ​Clingan.

Williams was acquired from the ‌Boston Celtics with Malcolm Brogdon in the Jrue Holiday trade on Oct. 1, ⁠2023.

A second-team All-NBA Defensive selection after the 2021-22 season, Williams has ⁠averaged ‌7.1 points and ⁠6.9 rebounds in 294 ​career ‌games (101 starts) with the ​Celtics ⁠and Trail Blazers. He was selected by Boston with the 27th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
