Red Sox 3B Caleb Durbin injures pinky, out vs. Rockies

Boston third baseman Caleb Durbin exited in the third inning ​of Wednesday’s ‌game against the Colorado Rockies in Denver with a left pinky finger subluxation, ‌the ​Red Sox ⁠announced.

He sustained ⁠the injury when sliding into first base to try to beat ​a relay throw from Rockies first baseman ⁠TJ Rumfield ⁠to pitcher Kyle ​Freeland.

Durbin, 26, was replaced ​by Marcelo Mayer, who ‌took over at shortstop with Anthony Seigler moving from second ⁠to third base, and Andruw Monasterio moving from shortstop to ⁠second ‌base.

Durbin, who ⁠went 0-for-2, is ​hitting .218 ‌with five home ​runs, 30 ⁠RBIs and seven stolen bases in 71 games in his first season with Boston.
