May 28 (Reuters) – Australia’s HealthCo Healthcare & Wellness REIT said on Thursday Healthscope has agreed to appoint Bethesda Health Care as the new operator of its Mount Private Hospital.
Here are some details:
• Unlisted Healthcare Fund (UHF) and HealthCo Healthcare own 11 Healthscope hospitals. Mount Private Hospital is a part of Healthscope’s network of hospitals
• Healthscope, one of Australia’s largest private hospital operators, has a network of 38 hospitals. It was placed under receivership a year ago
• UHF, and Healthscope and its Receiver on Thursday reached an agreement with not-for-profit private hospital operator Bethesda for the Mount Private Hospital
• Not-for-profit private hospital operator Bethesda will start operating Mount Private Hospital in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 under a new long-term lease
• The Western Australia (WA) state government will act as guarantor and provide financial assistance to Bethesda to enable the transition and operation of the Mount Private Hospital
• WA Health will also use the hospital for services such as elective surgeries to ease the burden on the public wait list
• Healthscope’s Receiver has granted a period of due diligence to alternative operators, including Calvary Health Care, for 27 Healthscope hospitals
• HealthCo Healthcare and UHF have executable new lease agreements in place for 10 other Healthscope hospitals with Healthe Care (VIC), Acurio Health (NSW) and KnG Healthcare (QLD)
