GFZ says magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck northern Chile

May 25 (Reuters) – The German Research ​Centre ‌for Geosciences (GFZ) said on Monday a ‌magnitude ​6.9 ⁠earthquake struck ⁠northern Chile, east of the city ​of Calama.

The ⁠GFZ ⁠had earlier ​pegged the ​quake at a ‌magnitude of 6.5.

The earthquake struck ⁠at a depth of 89 ⁠km (55.3 ‌miles), ⁠it added.
