Marlins acquire OF Rece Hinds in trade with Reds

The Miami Marlins acquired outfielder Rece Hinds from the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday ​in exchange for minor ‌league right-hander Zach McCambley.

Hinds, who was designated for assignment by the Reds on Sunday, was optioned to ‌Triple-A ​Jacksonville.

He hit .121 with ⁠five RBIs in ⁠12 games this season for Cincinnati. Hinds also batted .306 with a 1.058 OPS, seven home ​runs and 20 RBIs in 23 games this season ⁠at Triple-A Louisville.

Hinds, ⁠25, was a second-round ​draft pick by the Reds ​in 2019 and made his major ‌league debut in 2024. He holds a career average of .172 with seven home runs ⁠and 19 RBIs in 51 MLB games.

McCambley, 27, is 1-1 with a ⁠2.36 ‌ERA in 13 games (two ⁠starts) this season for ​Jacksonville. ‌He is 18-23 with ​a 4.12 ⁠ERA in 147 games (42 starts) over six seasons in the minors since Miami made him a third-round pick in 2020.
