US Senate abandons Trump immigration enforcement funding deadline, Republican senators say

WASHINGTON, May 21 (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate ​is abandoning ‌President Donald Trump’s June 1 deadline for ‌passing ​immigration ⁠enforcement funding, Republican ⁠senators said on Thursday.

Senators Bill Cassidy and ​John Kennedy, both of ⁠Louisiana, ⁠told reporters ​the Senate was ​beginning its Memorial ‌Day recess without passing the bill ⁠that was intended to contain $1 billion ⁠for ‌Trump ballroom ⁠and related ​security ‌and $72 billion for ​migrant ⁠deportations.
