US CFTC probes spike in oil futures trading before Trump postponed Iran strikes, WSJ reports

May 19 (Reuters) – The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading ​Commission is ‌scrutinizing a surge in oil futures trading that ‌occurred ​moments ⁠before U.S. President ⁠Donald Trump postponed strikes on Tehran in March, ​the Wall Street ⁠Journal reported ⁠on Tuesday.

The ​CFTC is interested ​in at least three ‌firms as part of its inquiry, ⁠the Journal said, citing documents and a ⁠person ‌familiar with ⁠the matter.

Reuters ​could ‌not immediately verify ​the ⁠report.
