The St. Louis Cardinals placed third baseman Ramon Urias on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday because of right elbow lateral epicondylitis — referred to ‌as tennis elbow.

In a corresponding move, the Cardinals recalled left fielder Thomas Saggese from Triple-A Memphis — one day after optioning him there.

Urias, 31, last played ‌on Sunday, going 0-for-2 in a 4-1 home loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nolan Gorman hit for Urias in the bottom of the seventh and replaced him at third base in the eighth.

Urias is batting .158 (9-for-57) with two home runs and five RBIs in 25 games.

For his career, Urias is a .254 hitter with 52 homers and 220 RBIs in 566 regular-season games for the Baltimore Orioles (2020-25), Houston ‌Astros (2025) and Cardinals. He won the American League Gold Glove for third basemen in 2022.

He also has hit .333 (3-for-9) in three playoff games for the Orioles (2023-24).

St. Louis signed Urias as a free agent on Feb. 21 to a one-year contract and ‌a mutual option for 2027. The deal was for a reported $1.5 million ‌in 2026 with a $4 million mutual option or $500,000 buyout for 2027.

Saggese, 24, was batting .170 (9-for-53) with two RBIs in 18 games for St. Louis. He is a career .239 hitter with three homers and 31 RBIs in 118 games.
