Morgan Barron’s injury-riddled season took a turn for the worse Monday when Winnipeg Jets coach Scott Arniel told the ‌media that the veteran center is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Barron, 27, played 12:59 in the Jets’ 3-1 victory over the Columbus ‌Blue Jackets on Saturday and appeared to emerge unscathed, but Arniel said the Nova Scotia, Canada, native was injured in that game.

In his sixth NHL season, Barron has been out with various ailments, including missing the first month of the season due to an undisclosed injury. Despite the setbacks, the 6’4″ center has posted a career-high 23 points (11 goals, 12 ‌assists) in 65 games along with a plus/minus of +5 while averaging 12:48 of ice time.

The timing is tough for the Jets (33-31-12, 78 points), who entered Monday seventh in the Central Division and three points out ‌of the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference with six ‌games left.

Over 321 games with the New York Rangers (2020-22) and Jets (2022-present), Barron has compiled 83 points (41 goals, 42 assists). The Rangers selected him in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
