NWSL roundup: Denver Summit held to goalless draw with Spirit in front of record crowd

Denver Summit FC’s home opener in the franchise’s inaugural season came with plenty of fanfare but ​no goals in a scoreless ‌draw with the Washington Spirit in front of an NWSL record crowd Saturday at Denver.

A turnout of 63,004 spectators at Empower ‌Field ​at Mile High never ⁠saw a goal. ⁠The teams combined for seven corner kicks and never converted.

Goalkeeper Abby Smith made two saves for the Summit (1-2-1, 5 ​points)

Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver made two saves as the Spirit (0-3-1, 3 points) ⁠remained winless.

Utah Royals ⁠2, Boston Legacy FC 1

Lara ​Prasnikar’s penalty kick early in the second ​half proved to be the difference ‌as the Royals prevailed in Foxborough, Mass., for their first victory of the season.

Tatumn Milazzo’s first-half goal put ⁠Utah ahead and Prasnikar pushed the margin to 2-0 five minutes into the second half ⁠following Anni ‌Karich’s foul in the ⁠penalty area.

Aissata Traore scored in ​the ‌72nd minute for Legacy (0-0-3, 0 ​points), which ⁠had been shut out in their first two matches of the season. There were 40 total fouls called in the game, with 25 on Boston.
