Marlins 1B Christopher Morel (oblique) heads to IL

The Marlins are placing first baseman Christopher Morel on the 10-day injured ​list Saturday with ‌a strained left oblique.

Miami is recalling first baseman Deyvison De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville ‌in ​a corresponding ⁠transaction.

Morel, 26, was ⁠scratched ahead of Friday’s 2-1 victory against the Colorado Rockies on Opening Day.

He ​signed a one-year, $2 million deal with Miami in ⁠December after batting .219 ⁠with 11 homers ​and 33 RBIs in 105 ​games for the Tampa Bay ‌Rays in 2025.

Morel is a career .222/.299/.415 hitter with 74 home runs and 210 ⁠RBIs in 477 games with the Chicago Cubs (2022-24) and Rays (2024-25).

De Los ⁠Santos, ‌22, has yet ⁠to make his ​major ‌league debut. He went ​2-for-4 with ⁠a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored in Jacksonville’s season-opening 8-7 loss to Rochester on Friday.
