Factbox-Storms cut power to 836,000 customers in US Midwest, Mid-Atlantic; Ohio hardest hit

NEW YORK, March 13 (Reuters) – More than 836,000 homes and ​businesses were without ‌power on Friday as severe storms battered the U.S. Midwest and Mid-Atlantic region, ‌according ​to data from ⁠PowerOutage.us.

The hardest-hit state ⁠was Ohio, with around 412,850 outages, representing about 7.6% of the state’s ​roughly 5.4 million customers, according to the ⁠data.

The hardest-hit ⁠utility in Ohio ​was a unit of FirstEnergy ​with around 172,850 homes ‌and businesses in the state without service, followed by American Electric Power, ⁠with around 114,560. FirstEnergy provides service to around 6.2 million ⁠electric ‌customers while AEP ⁠provides service to ​around ‌1.5 million electric customers ​in ⁠Ohio.
